CONTRACTORS

CONTRACTORS NEEDED!

The City of Memphis WAP program is looking for qualified contractors that are interested in making a difference by weatherizing homes for low-income households while making a great profit. The City of Memphis WAP program typically receives about $1.6 million dollars annually in federal funding to weatherize homes all over Shelby County, and there will be millions more coming through the pipeline with the Inflation Reduction Act.
In 2022, the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative (Memphis Office), the City of Memphis Lead Department and Weatherization Program are partnering on a $1 million dollar grant to abate lead, weatherize, and create healthy homes for an additional 60 households over the next 3 years. This will also include home repair work as well as weatherization work. The supply of clients waiting for their homes to be weatherized far exceeds the number of qualified contractors to perform the work.
As a result, the WAP program serves as a great opportunity to work in an industry for contractors seeking consistency in an ever-changing real estate market; for small construction start-ups; and for any contractor looking to cash in on the niche market of weatherization and home performance construction for both, the public and private sector.
We understand that this field is new to Mid-South contractors, so we offer opportunities for free training for anyone that meets the qualifications and sign-on to be a City of Memphis WAP contractor. If you’re interested in making a difference in saving families money and want to earn great money at the same time, please complete an application and send in the required documents to join the WAP program. Then once everything is completed, someone will contact you to complete the on-boarding process.
